The good: The Apple Cinema Display's high resolution and screen coating gives it not only great performance in movies and games, but also in everyday tasks. The monitor works seamlessly when connected to a recent model MacBook, and provides a charging station and three USB ports. And it just looks really slick on a desktop.
The bad: Thanks to Apple's decision to only include a Mini DisplayPort connection, the LED Cinema Display can only be used with Macs from late 2008 and on. Also, the display lacks ergonomic features and more-granular customization options. Some users will not appreciate the overly reflective and glossy screen.
The bottom line: As a desktop display and USB extender, the 27-inch Apple Cinema Display works wonderfully; however, for $1,000, there are better monitors that offer more options, including PC and Mac compatibility.

The company says its new display features a resolution of 2560 by 1440 pixels and 60 percent more screen real estate than its smaller 24-inch cousin. The design mirrors that of its predecessors, with a 16:9 edge-to-edge arsenic-free glass display on an aluminum stand, with an adjustable hinge to control the screen’s viewing angle. The display also uses the same IPS display technology found in the iMac and the iPad, to provide a 178 degree viewing angle.

PROS:
Gorgeous display; beautiful design; works seamlessly with a Mac
CONS:
Difficult to use with Windows; expensive; limited connectivity options and physical adjustability
EDITORS' TAKE:
This huge LCD packs impressive performance and sky-high resolution into a beautifully designed, stunning screen. It's not without quirks, however, and Windows users (even in Boot Camp) will want to steer clear.

Final Words:
I think the more compact 27-inch form factor is the right package to deal with greater than 1080p resolutions. Thirty inch monitors are great if you need more than 1920 x 1200 on a single panel but they’re bulky and don’t have a particularly great pixel density. The 27-inch 16:9 panel in the new LED Cinema Display is a nice alternative.

Prior to October 14th of this year, Apple hadn't updated its Cinema Display line in years.Literally. There's no doubt that this refresh is entirely overdue, and we still hold that Apple should've taken the opportunity to refresh its now-archaic 20 and 30-inch counterparts. That entire aside, this writeup is about the new 24-incher, a LED-backlit beauty that doesn't mind being called glossy and is clearly partial to notebooks. The screen packs the same 1,920 x 1,200 resolution that was on the 23-incher it replaced, but ditches that DVI connector in favor of the newer, less widely adopted DisplayPort. So, is the newfangled screen worth $899? Read on to find out.
